The Designers Republic

Work. Buy. Consume. Die. Founded in 1986 in Sheffield, England by Ian Anderson, The Designers Republic got its start creating posters for the band Person to Person. Anderson also managed the band at the time. The success of his poster designs led to more work in the music industry and it was not long before they were working in many fields for worldwide brands such as Coca-Cola, Nikelodeon and Pringles.

The Designers Republic left a lasting impression on the British design scene and devoted considerable time to its own brand where they created work with an anti-establishment undertone. Due to economic stress and the opinion that they had strayed too far from their original intentions The Republic closed its doors in January of 2009. However, Anderson hinted that the studio would be later re-born and Warp Records is cited as saying they created the cover for Oversteps 10th album, in 2010.
